I am so grateful to be a student of Christian Science that I wish to write this testimony of thanksgiving.
A healing of what appeared to be appendicitis stands out in my experience because it was the first healing I witnessed through my own scientific thinking. This was our third experience with this disease. The first time, not knowing anything of Christian Science, we resorted to material medicine for healing. Our second child was healed through the prayers of a dear Christian Science relative. When our third child manifested the same symptoms, I decided to pray myself to see if this truth worked for everyone. I was very new in Science, but I knew from reading testimonies that her healing would not be aided if I held in my thought the picture of a sick child.
I put the child in bed, and by the time I had read aloud one page from a copy of The Christian Science Journal she was asleep. I went into the kitchen and began to clean while I sang hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. I scrubbed everything in the kitchen and sang all the hymns I knew. The child awoke from her nap completely healed.
