My testimony is long past due for the many beautiful healings I have had through the application of Christian Science. I had visited churches of many other denominations. When I attended my first lecture on Christian Science, I realized that I had found the essence of Christianity in the religion which was founded by Mary Baker Eddy. I accepted its teachings without reservation. My first healing was of a growth on my tonsils that doctors had told me would have to be removed by surgery. When the healing came, I still knew very little of the letter of Christian Science.

I am most grateful for the consecrated lifework of Mrs. Eddy and for her having established the Christian Science movement. I am especially grateful for the Christian Science Benevolent Association Sanatoriums, where one may go for rest and study, as well as for healing.

I wish to relate a recent healing I had at one of these Sanatoriums. I had wakened in my own home one morning to find I had lost the use of my right limb. At first I became alarmed and fearful lest I be doomed to crutches, but I immediately denied this fearful thinking as unscientific. I had to handle fear by knowing that as Paul wrote (II Tim. 1:7), "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." I also recalled an idea that I received from a Christian Science lecture to the effect that fear is false evidence appearing real. With the help of a practitioner I was able to go to the Benevolent Association in San Francisco. I had my healing on the fourth day. This experience certainly illustrated Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 134), "A miracle fulfils God's law, but does not violate that law."
