RADIO PROGRAM NO. 350 - Preparing for Christmas

[The speaker is Florence Ludgate. The questioner is Harlan Witham.]

Questioner: This time of year many a household becomes caught up in frantic preparations for the Christmas season. Some members of the family are busy buying last-minute gifts. Others are rushing around helping others and completing their own holiday plans. But isn't this just part of the tradition of Christmas?
Speaker: It certainly sounds familiar, and it is great fun. But suppose we step off this treadmill for a moment and ask ourselves what the original significance of Christmas was and how can we best prepare ourselves to partake of its fullest meaning and help others to do the same.

To me, Christmas is the coming of the Christ, of the Christ-love, the Christ peace, the Christ-spirit into individual life and experience. It's divine Love reaching into human experience, including all men all the time, everywhere. The Christ is always there, but we need to become more aware of it.
