A Puppy for Christmas
[For children]
There was the sound of car brakes in the driveway, and a moment later the front door opened. "Merry Christmas, everyone!" a voice called out. "I've brought you all a present."
It was Tom's older brother, Jim, standing in the front hall and holding a squirming little dog in his arms. Tom ran to meet him.
"Oh, Jim, a puppy! Let me hold it!" cried Tom. "Sure, here, take her. But hold her firmly! She's a wiggler." Tom held the puppy close to him and brought her to the kitchen, where his mother was cooking the Christmas dinner. "Mother, look what Jim gave us! Isn't she cute?"
