The Pure in Heart See

Christ Jesus epitomized the way to gain vision: "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."Matt. 5:8; To understand God is to see good, to see that which really is, in place of that which seems to be.

What does it mean to be pure in heart? Isn't it to be single-minded? The Bible says that "a double minded man is unstable in all his ways."James 1:8; Believing in a dual existence, accepting both the material and the spiritual concepts of life as real, one swings back and forth, living in accordance first with one, then with the other.

But the Bible also says, "If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light."Matt. 6:22; When one's mind and character are single, he turns away from matter, accepts Spirit as All, and loves man as God's image and likeness. He is steadfast in his vision of reality, knowing that whatever is unlike God in thought or action is unreal.
