Afflicted with chronic stomach pains, I sought healing in medicine
Afflicted with chronic stomach pains, I sought healing in medicine. I turned to various specialists for treatment. Improvement always took place, but it was not lasting. The pains always returned, more violently and severely.
Then World War II broke out. I was called into the security and auxiliary service. Even during this time I had to request medical help time and again. X rays were taken, and an ulcer was discovered in the duodenum.
At the end of the war, as a prisoner, I came to a strange land far from my loved ones at home. Extremely difficult weeks followed. In this time of need I remembered Christian Science, which I was acquainted with but had never turned to. All at once I learned to pray and give thanks to God, and I thought about everything I had known or heard concerning Christian Science.
