"To every thing ... a season"
Said the Preacher, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Eccl. 3:1; But may we not sometimes find ourselves thinking, "It's too late to do anything now; it will be much more convenient to work on this next week "? Such subtle suggestions may cause us to put off doing the right thing right now. They would rob us of the newness of Love's provision for us.
How wasteful this is! Does not each moment bring a precious opportunity to forge ahead in our search for Truth? Constant prayer enables us to make the most of the opportunities afforded us in ever-increasing measure as we learn to make the best use of them. When we follow God's guidance as Christian Science teaches us to do, we find ample time to do everything needful. We find good always suitable, but apathy or error never so.
Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The secret of Christian Science in right thinking and acting is open to mankind, but few, comparatively, see it; or, seeing it, shut their eyes and wait for a more convenient season; or as of old cry out: 'Why art thou come hither to torment me before the time?'" Message to The Mother Church for 1900, p. 9;
