Time Spiritually Spent

Consider the effect on today's world if men individually devoted at least as much time to nourishing their spiritual hunger as they spend in feeding their physical bodies! Many are already doing this by regularly studying and meditating on the eternal, provable facts of God and of man made in His perfect likeness. These seekers for divine Truth understand that spiritual food strengthens mind and body. In the Bible we read Jesus' reply to the devil's temptation, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." Luke 4:4;

Throughout his ministry Christ Jesus was perpetually renewing and increasing his spiritual understanding in order to reject summarily evil's constant attacks upon the truth of being which he taught and demonstrated. By the age of twelve Jesus was well acquainted with the Scriptures of the Hebrew people. Conversing with the elders in the temple, even as a child he was about his Father's business. Later his challenging ordeals necessitated long, prayerful vigils to demonstrate the protective armor of divine Love.

Mrs. Eddy was an earnest student of the Bible. Even before her adult years she discussed and contested theological points with the minister of her denominational church. Subsequently this deeply Christian woman spent countless consecrated hours searching both the Old and New Testaments. She knew that demonstrable rules must have enabled Christ Jesus to heal the sick and sinning and raise the dead. So closely did she adhere in the following years to the Master's teachings that she was able to overcome the effects of what had been thought to be a fatal accident. Her seemingly miraculous restoration to health compelled Mrs. Eddy to turn even more earnestly to God for unfoldment of the rules of this healing Science. Because of her profound love for all mankind she wished to share this curative power with all humanity. The answer came in the Father's revelation of divine law. The eternal existence of perfect God and His perfect, spiritual creation, man, was seen to be the truth of being. This humble woman accepted the all-powerful fact of man's at-one-ment with God, good.
