I am grateful not only for what Christian Science has done for...

I am grateful not only for what Christian Science has done for me, and mine, and the whole world but sincerely and deeply grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve the Cause of Christian Science through many of its channels for more than thirty years.

When my wife and I were confronted with the most serious problem that we had ever had to face, and our need seemed to be beyond the ability of learned medical men, we sought refuge and healing in Christian Science. The doctor told us that our son had a case of pneumonia which would probably prove fatal. He recommended that the boy be taken to the hospital at once, but he gave us no hope of his recovery. This verdict prompted me to send my sister a telegram asking her if she could help us through Christian Science. The answer came back quickly that she would. Three days later the boy was well. This healing was our first experience with Christian Science.

I shall always be grateful for my first Sunday service. When the First Reader invited everyone present to join in silent prayer, I was deeply surprised and immediately realized that the invitation was a challenge to me. I had always listened to the prayer of others; but now it was up to me to pray, or I would not be a part of this communion with God.
