My first healing in Christian Science came about while I was reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I was completely healed of grief that had seemed to engulf me after the passing of two infant sons. Since that time the great blessing of Christian Science has changed my whole life and improved my character, my health, my vision, my usefulness, my general appearance, and my supply. It has been the only physician for my son and me for nineteen years, and we have had many wonderful proofs of its healing, uplifting, and comforting power. Protection and guidance have been ours as a result of our study and prayers.

Three years ago when my son was away for basic training in the Army, one of my chores was to drive his pickup truck occasionally. One morning when I had carefully put it into neutral gear and tried to start it, with no results, my next door neighbor offered to help. He got in, and unbeknown to me, put it into gear. I had just walked in front of the truck when it started and lunged toward me. I lifted my thought to God, Spirit, and thrust myself sideways as hard as I could, for I was between the truck and the garage.

The truck caught me across the pelvic area. The pain was so great that I almost blacked out. I struggled to remain conscious, knowing that God is our Father, Mind. I knew that if I lost consciousness I might come to in a hospital, for this neighbor was not a Christian Scientist. I knew, however, that he was a good man, terribly frightened, who didn't know what to do, so I told him to know that God loved me. He could do this much, and I knew that nothing had really happened to God's idea.
