God-given Joy

In learning through Christian Science that God is the only Mind, or Life, one learns that God is also Soul and that an attribute, or quality, of Soul is joy. Furthermore, in learning that the real man is the image and likeness, reflection or spiritual idea, of God. one sees that man expresses joy. Hence joy is God-given. It is as natural to man as intelligence is.

Indeed, Life itself—the Life which is God and is man's only real Life—expresses joy, never burden. The blight of sorrow, regret, disappointment, and so forth, cannot be found in the garden of Soul. Here the flowers of pure pleasure and satisfaction, spiritual strength and attainment bloom eternally. They never wither; they never die.

In her beautiful poem, "The Mother's Evening Prayer." Mrs. Eddy addresses God in these words:
