He that... hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity (Ps. 24:4)
The Hebrew noun shave' (vanity) has various more literal meanings including "nothingness, emptiness, worthlessness," and was also sometimes employed in the sense of "lying." Moffatt suggests the following, "He only... who never sets his mind on what is false"; and Smith translates, "He... who has had no desire for falsehood."
