The Importance of Listening

If mankind would give more thought to what they are listening to, they could improve themselves dramatically. One of course would not deliberately listen to erroneous arguments. If he is truly exercising his free moral agency, he will listen for the voice of Truth, otherwise he can be misled.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "In a world of sin and sensuality hastening to a greater development of power, it is wise earnestly to consider whether it is the human mind or the divine Mind which is influencing one." Science and Health, pp. 82, 83;

It is a demonstrable fact that disease first appears in thought before it can appear in effect. This is proven in Christian Science by the healing of sickness when mortal mind has been instructed out of its limited beliefs of fear and ignorance and Truth is seen as present right where its opposite has claimed to be. Truth has been there all the time, but ignorance of real being has seemed to shut a beholder's eyes to its presence.
