Since childhood I have loved Christian Science and have faithfully tried to put its teachings into practice. My gratitude for our dear Master, Christ Jesus, and his selfless life and pure teaching, and for Mrs. Eddy and her unselfish devotion and consecration in giving her revelation to the world, has grown deeper with each passing year. Humbly I thank our Father-Mother God for His ever-present love.

When I was newly married, I found myself one day in the grip of an electric current. With wet hands I had plugged in an electric kettle, and while holding it had turned on a tap to fill it. I was alone in the house and unable to uttter a sound or do anything physically; but, though my first reaction was to feel great fear, quickly my thought turned to the teaching of Christian Science that God is the one and only power and that there is naught besides Him. With that realization a wave of gratitude seemed to envelop me, and the kettle fell out of my hand into the water-filled sink where it continued to heat the water.

I realized afterwards, when thinking on this experience, what Jesus meant when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). It was the truth of the all power of God that freed me that day and made me realize how very close God is to us; and I have never ceased to be grateful for the experience.
