Joyous Remembrance
Who among us does not cherish the remembrance of great events, heroic deeds, happy hours spent with loved ones? The human faculty of memory is indeed a blessing when it brings to thought happenings of lasting significance that inspire us to do a better job, to be more unselfish, honest, and pure in the living present. When, for example, we remember the multitudes who have sacrificed all for their country and the cause of freedom, we are at once impelled to be of greater service ourselves so that the sacrifice they made shall not be in vain.
Christians everywhere remember the words and works of Christ Jesus with love and reverence. The events connected with his human experience occurred nearly two thousand years ago, but the remembrance of them, as recounted in the Bible, shapes the quality of countless lives today.
