A Perfect Background
The importance of background is much discussed today. One result of this interest is the loving effort the public schools are making to correct deficiencies in the backgrounds of children through prekindergarten training.
The Christian Scientist finds his religion supplying a satisfying point of view about background. A teen-ager who had been investigating Christian Science for a few months was asked what man expresses as the image and likeness of divine Mind. The reply was "background."
Christ Jesus, giving his disciples the model prayer, began, "Our Father which art in heaven." Matt. 6:9; Mrs. Eddy has interpreted this line as, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious." Science and Health, p. 16; These statements are a revelation of the true background of each one of us. They refer to the real man's parentage and home. We may marvel with St. John, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." I John 3:1;
