During an unhappy period which ended with the dissolving of my marriage, I had pains in the region of my heart and recurring periods of weakness when I would almost be incapacitated and unable to do any housework or care for my two young children. Many helpful statements from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy were relied upon for comfort and strength, but f realized that the routing out of fear in my consciousness was necessary if I was to be completely free from this illness.

One morning as I was doing my dishes, an attack of pain came upon me, and I declared that no matter what the physical manifestations claimed to be they could never touch the real me, who "is hid with Christ in God" (Col. 3:3). I realized that the impervious armor of Love was round about me; and the pain ceased. This was the last attack I had.

The thought that had been clamoring for identity in my consciousness was that I was not loved. I replaced this belief by knowing the counterfacts that man is indeed the beloved child of God and that God cares for each and every one of His ideas. I am ever grateful for the clear understanding that accompanied this healing. This statement from Science and Health was truly brought home to me (p. 113): "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love."
