Can I Give a Treatment?

Sooner or later every sincere student of Christian Science is called upon to give a treatment. This is not something which can be permanently sidetracked, however much the carnal mind may argue that we have neither the time nor the understanding to do this. To accept these arguments is to misunderstand the very nature of treatment, and this acceptance bars our own growth Spiritward.

Treatment in Christian Science follows the method Christ Jesus used. Never did Jesus imply that by his own personal ability or power could he or did he comfort the sorrowing and heal the sick. He plainly declared, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."^{ John 14:10;} His clear recognition of the eternal power and presence of God and of man made in God's likeness, together with the understanding that there is no power apart from God, brought about the radical changes in human experience evidenced as healings.

Mrs. Eddy states, "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God."^{ Science and Health, p. 495;} Truth does its own work. The Christian Science healer sees and acknowledges this and rejoices to witness this fact. He strives to keep his own thought a clear transparency for Truth, allowing no mortal concepts or evil suggestions place in his consciousness.
