When I was a very young child, my parents were steeped in hygienic and medical theories. My mother even wiped doorknobs before I touched them so I wouldn't come in contact with germs. When I was six, however, a relative introduced us to Christian Science. My parents readily accepted this way of life. And from then on they relied completely on Truth for protection and healing, and I grew up in an atmosphere imbued with confidence in God's care.
Proof of God's care in our family has included the instantaneous healing of hives, a nervous condition, and the quick handling of so-called children's diseases. Other healings, some of which took longer, are those of blood poisoning, a skin disease, ivy poisoning, and a wound caused by a sewing machine needle passing through my mother's hand.
