My introduction to Christian Science was through the weekly...

My introduction to Christian Science was through the weekly television programs which were current several years ago. I was a life member of another denomination, but I always felt that the healing power of the Master, Christ Jesus, was missing in its program for the salvation and healing of mankind.

I had been having medical treatment for bursitis in my shoulder, but had received no relief. So I visited a Christian Science Reading Room and requested the address of a practitioner. He explained to me how Christian Science heals through prayer. After several interviews in which he stressed the saying of the Master, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32), I was completely healed. I began to attend a Christian Science church and eventually became a member.

Sometime later I had an accident in the garden and injured my left leg. I immediately repeated the first sentence of "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 468), "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." The pain ceased, but my leg would not support me. I hobbled to the house with the help of a stick and did prayerful work as we are taught to do it in the textbook. I also had the help of a Christian Science practitioner.
