When I was five years old, my tonsils were removed because they were said to be causing constant illness. As the years went by, the condition continued, and the physician's verdict was that the tonsils had grown again and needed to be taken out.

I had been married about a year when my husband and I accepted the religion of Christian Science because of our desire to know more of God. Soon afterward the physical condition came in its severest form. Though we were new students of Science, we had studied in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy the chapter on Prayer, in which the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation is given. Both of us understanding' said the Lord's Prayer twice, as well as the interpretation, which includes these words (p. 17):
