A New Song

As we study the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we cannot fail to notice how frequently the author presents the same idea in different ways. Each presentation brings with it something of the inspiration which prompted her, so that even with continuous reading there is always refreshment of thought.

Long ago the Psalmist cried, "Sing unto him a new song" Ps. 33:3: and it may well be that this is what is expected of us today. Mrs. Eddy set the example, for since the days when Jesus taught, none has given to the world a more glorious song, the tidings of an ever-present Comforter. Yet the song must be new every day in order to keep pace with an ever-changing world. It should arrest the thought of every generation. The eternal Truth is forever unfolding, and each individual consciousness eventually must respond to the joyous message.

To one who has been healed of deep sorrow or of what was thought to be an incurable disease, the Wednesday testimony meetings provide an opportunity to express gratitude and happiness. This song may be heard by one who is listening and waiting for such a message of hope, and if the same experience is recounted more than once in the same church, it is well to consider the desirability of a fresh approach in order that those present may experience further spiritual unfoldment. In this way the testimony may bring comfort to one who previously has not gained the full significance of the message.
