The Power of the Christ Today
Jesus of Nazareth attracted his followers through his healings and his teachings regarding the kingdom of God. Students of the Bible are familiar with the variety of Jesus' healing works, which ranged from healing Simon's wife's mother of a fever to restoring Lazarus from the dead.
Although this age has seen marvelous developments in the natural sciences, these human disciplines have not uncovered the firm basis on which Christ Jesus healed sickness and did his other remarkable works. In fact, the healings of Jesus are still generally regarded as unique phenomena, exhibiting a divine power bestowed on him alone. Or they are sometimes explained as not happening quite as the Gospels relate them. Yet who would not do what Jesus did, if only he knew how?
The explanation of Jesus' mission was given to the world by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who a century ago revealed the spiritual laws behind Jesus healing work. These spiritual laws and the rules for applying them to the human situation, she named Christian Science.
