Unfoldment versus Outlining

We read in the Bible: "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isa. 55:8, 9;

I shall always be grateful for a remark made to me once by an experienced Christian Scientist. Possibly sensing the struggle I was going through at the time, resulting from my efforts at finding right employment, this dear worker said, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite unfoldment." Keeping this reminder in thought, I was led soon afterwards to interesting and useful work.

The Bible is full of instances showing characters achieving greatness and success when personal opinion and desire were displaced by an attitude of complete surrender to the will of God, good. Christians are familiar with Jesus' total renunciation of personal will, when, in the mental agony which preceded his crucifixion, in ardent prayer to his Father, he was able to say, "Not my will, but thine, be done." Luke 22:42 In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes concerning this incident: "When the human element in him struggled with the divine, our great Teacher said: 'Not my will, but Thine, be done!'—that is, Let not the flesh, but the Spirit, be represented in me. This is the new understanding of spiritual Love. It gives all for Christ, or Truth." Science and Health, p. 33;
