Accepting Only a True Report
Even the newest cub reporter is aware of what have been called the five W's—Who, What, Where, When, and Why—the essentials in reporting a news story. The alert Christian Scientist can use these essentials to examine each report that presents itself as part of his human experience.
Who is it that is concerned? Is it the real man or mortal man? Is it the image and likeness of God, who can only know, see, love, or express that which is perfect and complete, or is it the offspring of material sense, subject to all the beliefs of a corporeal personality? Christ Jesus called this false sense a liar and a murderer. The real man can experience or possess only that which he receives from God, who is the only cause and creator, ever maintaining His creation in perfect harmony. Paul said to the Romans, "Of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever." Rom. 11:36;
What is happening? Only good can happen to the divine substance of Spirit, which can never be cut, burned, injured, or damaged in any manner, because it is spiritual, perfect, everlasting, and infinite. And nothing can really happen to matter, because it is only an illusory creation of mortal mind, which may claim but can never prove that matter possesses life, truth, intelligence, or substance.
