Progress Now

Paul wrote, "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." II Cor. 6:2; These words, filled with instant hope, promise, and authority, have been a source of inspiration and joy to those who have understood and accepted them as true. Doubtless, they have even changed the whole course of many men's lives.

Mrs. Eddy gives a clear explanation of Paul's words. She writes, "'Now,' cried the apostle, 'is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,'—meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life." Science and Health, p. 39;

Mrs. Eddy also writes, "The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress." p. 324; Many of us have earnestly sought to improve our lives, to gain broader views of the world in which we live, to advance to higher goals of achievement, and to find opportunities to be of more service to our fellowmen.
