Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul...

"Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul, and there are no other real senses" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 214). According to records kept by my parents in an old family Bible, my age is eighty-nine.

Early in the spring of 1965 I was riding with friends on the winding roads in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. I was sitting in the back seat of the car. Suddenly the door flew open, and I was thrown onto the highway. I heard myself repeating: "God is with me. God is with me," and following that, declaring, "I'm all right.'' My companions lifted me to my feet, and with their assistance I walked back to the car. My clothing was damaged and my skin was injured in many places. In addition to these more or less minor injuries there were several lacerations; one was a cut near my eye, and there was a gash near one elbow.

As we drove back toward home, we stopped at a drugstore, and we asked the druggist to place a bandage on the cut on my arm. The druggist said that I should go to a hospital where the arm could he properly cleansed and stitches could be taken to close the wound. This I refused to do, knowing that God is the healer.
