Preparation for College Admission

[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]

At a time when applications for admission to colleges are expected to exceed those of any previous year, it is reassuring to turn from the picture of limited opportunities drawn by the material senses to the true conception of man. How helpful it is to reject the material sense of competing for a limited number of openings in a limited number of colleges and accept the spiritual sense of God's goodness available everywhere.

Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 596), "The illuminations of Science give us a sense of the nothingness of error, and they show the spiritual inspiration of Love and Truth to be the only fit preparation for admission to the presence and power of the Most High." The illuminations of Christian Science in our thought make each step in preparation for entrance into college unfold naturally.

Christ Jesus directed, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"(Matt. 6:33). The high school student who studies Christian Science seeks to realize the absolute truth of man's present perfection in God's kingdom; then he can demonstrate step by step the spiritual qualities needed in himself—humility, confidence, and intelligence. He finds the control and direction of his loving Father-Mother God increasingly manifested in all his affairs.
