When I was a child, I knew...
When I was a child, I knew a family that had a young son who was healed of infantile paralysis in Christian Science after being unable to walk for three years. This healing impressed me very much, and I felt that if I ever had a so-called incurable disease, I too would turn to Science and be healed. At that time I believed that Science was only used for the healing of physical disease.
About fifteen years later I became very ill with tuberculosis of the lungs. After being under medical care for several years without there being any improvement in my condition, I decided to turn to Christian Science.
Telling no one of my decision, I telephoned a woman who I had heard was interested in the religion and asked her if she would give me the name of a practitioner. She advised me to go to the Christian Science Reading Room and select a name from The Christian Science Journal. I did this and called a practitioner, making an appointment for the following day.
