A Union Blessed
A universal and deep interest of youth is that of marriage. A search for right companionship is natural, and sweetheart days are happy ones. If those making the search are Christian Scientists and know how to apply to the search the Principle they profess, they can feel assured of a union blessed by God.
If ideals of marriage are kept on a high level, spiritual intuition will make the searchers sensitive to character values and to moral and intellectual congeniality. Appreciation of spiritual qualities will outweigh the superficial desire for physical beauty and personal charm. While marriage is a human institution, it is also a moral state, and one can look to God to preserve its morale.
Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 57): "Union of the masculine and feminine qualities constitutes completeness. The masculine mind reaches a higher tone through certain elements of the feminine, while the feminine mind gains courage and strength through masculine qualities. These different elements conjoin naturally with each other, and their true harmony is in spiritual oneness."
