Scientific Being and Divine Healing
What is scientific being? What is divine healing? These are questions of momentous import to mankind. That they are not too transcendental to be practical is attested to by the fact that their answers were discovered a century ago by Mrs. Eddy, a deep student of the teachings and divine healing activities of Christ Jesus. These answers are demonstrable today through Christian Science.
Ever since the healings of Christ Jesus were performed and recorded, men have longed to understand these words of his: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also" (John 14:12). Years of patient dedicated research and prayer unfolded to Mrs. Eddy the rules by which Jesus accomplished his healing works. She discerned that underlying all of his work was an understanding of true being. This she named "scientific being."
She writes in Science and Health (p. 259), "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,— perfect God and perfect man, —as the basis of thought and demonstration."
