Our God-given Dominion
The Bible records that God gave man "dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Gen. 1:26;
Dominion in the physical realm is being rapidly achieved by mankind today. Underwater explorations, space achievements, agricultural know-how, have greatly added to men's dominion over the elements. The question being asked today by thinking people of all faiths is how men's dominion over themselves can be achieved.
Christian Scientists acknowledge and are grateful for all progress made in the physical realm. Their prime concern, however, is with the spiritual realm. Paul wrote to the Romans, "Sin shall not have dominion over you." Rom. 6:14; Our hope of having this promise fulfilled in our lives must be based on the acknowledgment that we ourselves must gain dominion over all erroneous beliefs that we may be struggling with, including those of sin, disease, and death. A battle is won only when complete dominion is achieved by one of opposing forces. It is up to each one of us to decide which side shall emerge victorious in our battle with error, or mortal mind.
