The Correct Perspective
Many years ago a student of Christian Science had an interesting experience in an art gallery. At one end of a wide and long hallway there hung a large painting of a naval battle. You could see clouds of white smoke from the firing guns, wide-spreading masts of ships, and green ocean below. As you walked toward this unusual picture and came within a correct perspective of it you were amazed to discover that the painting was in reality that of a beautiful orchard in bloom. What had appeared as smoke were clusters of beautiful white fruit blossoms, the spreading masts were trees and their branches, the ocean a field of green grass. The artist's object in this unique painting had been to emphasize the necessity of gaining a correct perspective to see anything correctly.
Christian Science today is revealing how mankind can gain the correct perspective of all that exists. In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "For right reasoning there should be but one fact before the thought, namely, spiritual existence." She continues, "In reality there is no other existence, since Life cannot be united to its unlikeness, mortality." Science and Health, p. 492;
What a glorious outlook! Spiritual existence—the only fact! In other words, all that actually exists is infinite spirit and its infinite reflection, the universe and man, manifesting health, harmony, perfection, immortality, freedom, abundance, and limitless good. What a sense of gratitude should be ours that here and now spiritual being, in its uninterrupted completeness, is all that exists! In the realm of reality, where God is All-in-all, divine Love is the only power, divine Mind the only intelligence, divine Life the only activity, divine Truth the only actuality.
