I was playing football one Saturday afternoon

I was playing football one Saturday afternoon. Mom and Dad had come to watch the game. In the first half of the match two of us went to head the ball, and we both fell. As I came down, I put my hand out to try to save myself, but unfortunately I fell on my arm with the other boy on top of me. The pain in my arm was severe. When the other boy got up, I tried to get up, but because of the pain I could not at first. Our trainer came over to me and asked what was wrong. I said, "My arm!"

My father then came over, and the trainer said to him: "This arm is broken. Look at the bone sticking out. We must take him to hospital." But I knew my parents were declaring the truth about the situation as we are taught in Christian Science. I refused to go to hospital and asked that the trainer just bandage the arm.

I left the bandage on all night. Next morning I got up and told my father that my arm was very sore. He took the bandage off and found that the arm was very much swollen. I asked that he telephone my Sunday School teacher and ask for her prayerful help, which she immediately gave. I went back and lay on the bed and told my mother I did not want any breakfast.
