A bible promise reads, "Blessed...
A bible promise reads, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Matt. 5:6). About thirty-five years ago I had a great desire to find God. Mrs. Eddy writes on page I of Science and Health: "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind. Desire is prayer."
My prayer was answered when I saw a poster advertising a Christian Science lecture. Knowing nothing of this religion, I was led to attend the lecture. From that lecture I gained the knowledge that God is Love. This was the beginning of my attending a Church of Christ, Scientist, and taking up the study of this wonderful Science.
Through the prayers of a practitioner I was quickly healed of neuritis. During the treatment all desire for smoking and social drinking fell away from me, although these habits had never been mentioned to the practitioner.
I should like to relate a more recent healing. As I came downstairs one morning, a severe pain struck me in the chest. Spiritual truths from Science and Health and from Mrs. Eddy's hymns came to my thought. I held to these truths during the day and night. The next morning, not feeling much better, finding it difficult to raise my arms, and needing to be on an early bus, I turned my thought to God and said, "Father, what more can I do?"
The answer came in these words (Science and Health, p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints."
Immediately I was free. My thought was filled with gratitude to God, and I went on my way rejoicing.
For the wonderful proofs I have experienced that God is at hand to help us in every way; for class instruction and the annual association meeting; for the health and happiness I enjoy through the study of Christian Science; for membership in The Mother Church; for the privilege of serving in a branch church, and for all the periodicals, I am profoundly grateful.
My heart overflows with gratitude to God for His goodness; for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower; and for our beloved Leader who, through her love and selfless devotion has given us a practical understanding of God.—(Miss) Florrie Williams, Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales.
