WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on August 15, 1965.]

Is It Not Yet A Very Little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest? (Isa. 29:17)

The great forest which grew on the slopes of the mountains of Lebanon to the north of Palestine was all but proverbial; and "Lebanon" was sometimes used as a word suggesting forest land. Hence Moffatt has simply, "Soon, very soon, shall forests turn to orchards, and orchards be like woods." Smith, however, prefers, "Is there not still but a little while before Lebanon shall be turned into garden land, and the garden land be counted a forest?"
