Fear is one of the worst afflictions of the human race. The destructive toll it has levied upon men through the ages is incalculable. The evils it has bred, the sufferings it has imposed, the calamities it has caused—to individuals, communities and nations— make a dark, dreary and sad tale.... In poisoning our minds with suspicion and stirring our hearts with hate, it has set man against man.

The susceptibility of the fear-obsessed mass mind to suggestions of disease has been astutely exploited by the vivisectors.... Moreover, fear is a powerful magnet that attracts the very misfortunes upon which it dwells.... Job exclaimed, "The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me.
