RADIO PROGRAM No. 174 - Overcoming Worry

QUESTIONER: The words "fear not" appear many times in the Bible. But is trying not to think about things that may not happen the Bible's answer to worry?

SPEAKER: There's much more to it than that. Many do not understand what fear and worry are and so seem unable to cope with them. It's more than just saying, "Stop worrying!" The Bible stresses the need to gain an inner peace.

In Christian Science the inner peace which overcomes worry is the result of understanding the nature of God feeling His presence, and realizing the care He gives to His creation at all times. We read in Isaiah this assurance (41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea. I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
