I had heard fairly early about Christian Science and its Mind-healing and had even attended several lectures on it, which explained its nature and its purpose in the salvation of mankind, but that was as far as my interest went for a while.

Thirteen years or so ago I had an operation for the removal of a tumor from my neck. I learned later that the doctor had told my daughter that the condition was cancerous. I then became extremely fearful and doubtful, and after about two years the symptoms set in again, and I had to admit then that God alone could help me. In my greatest need and distress I sought and made contact with Christian Science. I became absorbed in the study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I read the Bible and attended the Sunday services and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings of a Church of Christ, Scientist. I then asked a woman who is a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and through her prayerful explanations of the truths of God and man I received such effective help that soon afterward I lost my fear, and the earnestly desired healing came.

I am grateful to God, the almighty and perfect Mind, for this healing. And I am thankful for Christ Jesus, who showed us the way of salvation from all mankind's suffering, and for Mrs. Eddy, who discovered the Christ Science, explained it to us, and demonstrated it.
