Removing the Cause of Disease

In Christian Science we learn that all physical conditions both good and bad are really mental. Because they are mental, the physical conditions called disease symptoms can be destroyed. Their cause can be discerned and removed.

In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 411): "The procuring cause and foundation of all sickness is fear, ignorance, or sin. Disease is always induced by a false sense mentally entertained, not destroyed. Disease is an image of thought externalized. The mental state is called a material state. Whatever is cherished in mortal mind as the physical condition is imaged forth on the body."

Fear is darkness; its opposite, Love, is light. In the Bible we read (I John 4:18), "Perfect love casteth out fear." Perfect Love is divine. It embraces all in its infinite goodness. It is the one all-powerful Mind. It is God. We overcome fear as we consciously reflect perfect Love.
