CONVICTION

The Lord, our God omnipotent, reigns now; This we must know.Merely to say the words will not establishProof, nor yet to sing the joyous phrases,Although the praise may be sincere and fervent:But we must comprehend in constant prayerThe ever-present Principle of goodness. We must know now, for men of every station. In jungle swamp, on hill, or restless ocean.Or where the satellites are space-exploring,That God is there, all-powerful, all-loving,All-knowing, and all-wise. This we must know,Beyond the shadow of a doubt; Then will His government appear in law and order:Then will the view unfold of men as brothers,Believing, trusting, laboring in concord. The Lord, our God omnipotent, reigns now; This we must know.
