In the rearing of three children,...
In the rearing of three children, my husband and I had many proofs of the protecting power of Christian Science. In the textbook. Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 369, "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood." Our children experienced few of the so-called childhood diseases because a growing understanding of the Science of Spirit was being gained.
For the privilege of having been a Second Reader in a branch church and for the great spiritual growth gained through this experience, I am deeply grateful. During my three-year term I was never absent because of illness. However, there were several instances when a firm stand had to be taken.
My gratitude to the faithful and consecrated practitioners who strengthened me is measureless. A very painful inflamed condition of an eye presented itself. A deeper study, greater spiritual discernment, and relinquishment of any sense of personal responsibility for the reading brought complete healing.
