Boundless gratitude compels me to tell of a healing I had in the year 1960. It was a healing that occurred suddenly, just through the reading of the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Since my childhood I had suffered from headaches caused by fatigue. Since my twenty-fifth year I had suffered from a bilious disease. At thirty I began to smoke and later could not rid myself of this annoying habit. For a year I had eczema on my hands. I was at that time very much depressed.

A dear woman friend who was a Christian Scientist noticed this and asked me whether I believed in God. I explained that I did believe in a higher power, whom I thought we were not to know, but I had always wanted to learn the truth of Christ Jesus, although I had never found it. Thus this woman, to whom I shall be ever grateful, gave me a copy of the monthly periodical, The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition).
