Over forty years ago a friend asked me if I would go with her to a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. At that time I had lost all faith in God, feeling it was useless to pray in the way I had been taught. I was very unhappy and not well, so I was willing to go with her.

The one thing I grasped from the readings from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was that there is in reality only one Mind, which is God, and not a lot of little minds, and that man reflects this one Mind. It was a wonderful revelation to me which I shall never forget. I had found God. I became happy and well.

My first healing was that of a form of influenza in 1917. I was then working as a secretary in a military hospital. Many of the patients and nurses were down with the illness, and I suddenly became very fearful. My parents were not Christian Scientists and were much concerned because I did not want a doctor; but I knew that this was an opportunity to prove the healing power of Science. I felt convinced it would heal me.
