When I was a child, my mother studied Christian Science for a while and gained a sense of security from its teachings. Although we saw friends apply and prove its truths, we did not continue in the study.
During a period of great nervous tension, when I feared a recurrence of a nervous breakdown I had experienced in the past, I telephoned a practitioner. I asked, "Can Christian Science help in mental distress?"
Her comforting reply was: "My dear, it certainly can and does. It is especially helpful in such situations."
