Singing in the Night
"In the night his song shall be with me," sang the Psalmist (Ps. 42:8). What a comforting promise when fear and doubt seem to be aggravated in the dark of the night!
Paul and Silas, after being cast into prison for preaching and healing in Christ Jesus' name, realized the fulfillment of this promise. As they lifted their voices and sang praises to God in the midnight hour, the prison doors were opened and their bands were loosened. The all-inclusiveness of God's goodness and impartial, infinite love brought deliverance, not only to them but to all of the prisoners.
One evening the news of the sudden passing of a loved one came to the writer. Almost immediately she realized that she must take her choice of two courses to follow: one, to drop down into the depths of despair; the other, to rise into the realization of the truth contained in these words of Mrs. Eddy's on page 428 of Science and Health: "Life is real, and death is the illusion. A demonstration of the facts of Soul in Jesus' way resolves the dark visions of material sense into harmony and immortality."
