SACRAMENT
Here
a feast of Love is spread;
Here is Christ's communion bread.
As the words of Truth unfold,
Pure, receptive hearts behold
Only Love's reality
Where the mortal seemed to be.
Here the peace of God, serene,
Fills the heart, for now is seen
All the pettiness and strife
Of a mortal sense of life
Blotted out in certainty
Of man's immortality.
Triumphant over cross and cup,
Now the Christ is lifted up!
Elsie Hill Ainsworth
