Trusting All the Way
What wonderful lessons may be learned from Peter's experience in his attempt to walk on the water! This interesting, illuminating account, found in the fourteenth chapter of Matthew, tells us that Jesus requested his disciples to take a boat and go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, "while he sent the multitudes away" (verse 22). He then went up to a mountain to pray. Through communion with his Father, he gained additional spiritual refreshment.
How enhanced would be our spiritual progress in Christian Science if we frequently turned aside from the demands and duties of the day to partake consciously of the spiritual nourishment that divine Love has provided for its children!
And now where were the disciples? They were in the midst of a storm-tossed sea. In the early hours of the morning "Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea." How many times have we been confronted with exasperating situations or with seemingly overwhelming physical conditions and have felt that we were right in the midst of a storm-tossed sea! But let us not despair, the Christ is always present. It will deliver us if we seek this deliverance.
