For more than forty-five years...
For more than forty-five years I have relied entirely on God for healing in the way taught in Christian Science. Through my own understanding of the truth I have been healed of headaches, toothache, recurring boils, and sties. With the help of a practitioner, I have been healed of injuries resulting from accidents and a chronic bowel disorder.
I have experienced mental surgery. Through an accident a little finger was nearly severed. A practitioner was called. That was at noon. My wife cleaned my hand of the broken glass, set the finger back in place, and swathed the hand in dean cloths.
My wife had an urgent trip to make that would take several hours. The practitioner told her I was in God's care and to make the trip without fear and advised me to repeat over and over "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health, and to think about each word. It was difficult to concentrate, and words seemed meaningless at first; but then a great peace came to me, and I was able to think quite clearly. I forgot all about the accident as I dwelt on the words, which include the truth that "Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal."
