The Importance of Right Decisions

Right decisions and successful achievement are coincidental. The more solidly one builds his life on moral and spiritual values, the sounder his decisions will be. And the importance of one's decisions cannot be underestimated, for as Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 392), "Your decisions will master you, whichever direction they take."

Christian Science assures us that our decisions will be sound as we prayerfully seek divine direction in making them. Such seeking involves an understanding of the relationship which exists between God and man and a recognition of the coincidence of the divine with the human.

Because of the dualism of human consciousness—its belief in both good and evil, right and wrong—human decisions often turn out to be faulty. But as the human yields to the divine, the allness of good and the nothingness of evil become more apparent, and the ability to make sound decisions is enlarged. As human thought is freed from such negative influences as selfishness, fear, covetousness, and the willful desire to dominate, one's perspective is sharpened, the pros and cons of a given situation are more clearly defined, and balanced judgment takes the place of guesswork.
